As a school counselor, I have been studying the effects of trauma on the mind and bodies of children and searching for ways to decrease the effects. I am almost finished with my trauma informed yoga teacher training and excited to share this healing practice with my students. My vision is to create a safe space, in school, where students can come to settle their minds and bodies to be able to fully engage in school. I will be teaching mindfulness and yoga to students in elementary school throughout the day and want to have a welcoming atmosphere so students feel comfortable moving out of their fight/ flight responses. The blocks, blankets, mindful timers and the singing bowl will assist students in learning how to practice yoga and mindfulness in school. These materials will support students in accessing a healthy practice, that is proven to improve well being and has a positive impact on academic success. Please consider helping me offer a sanctuary to students struggling to get through the day.
