When students walk into my classroom, they are greeted by 24 of my digital portraits. The faces in my portraits look like theirs and they express a wide range of emotions and meanings. Students are blown away and they have one burning question: How did they do that? I am very eager to show them! I have consistently taught Photoshop in my graphic design classes, but I do not use Photoshop to create my artwork; I use my trusty iPad! With iPads, Apple Pencils, and the powerful Procreate app, students will finally be able to produce digital art that comes from the heart and speaks to the soul! I will teach them art techniques, color theory, and portraiture with a digital flair. They will explore representation in art, art as self-expression, and art as a form of protest. They will learn the tips, tricks, bells and whistles of Procreate and they will fall in love with digital art like I did!
