I have recently switched grades. I was a middle school teacher for the last fifteen years and have started teaching fifth-grade this year. Starting a new grade, I thought I would like to try some new ways of teaching and new ways of managing my classroom. I am teaching using the "The Daily Five" and using comfortable seating in my classroom. I teach at a Title 1 school and most of my students are from low-income families. We have started this year with a huge focus on reading and writing. Eventhough it is at the beginnin of the year, I have already seen an eagerness in them. They want to learn and want to read. I want to be able to give them every opportunity possible to help them succeed.
