Whether we are learning from home or in the classroom we are in need of books that honor the diversity of our students, the community and the world. We must work to not only be accepting of others, but to stand with groups that are oppressed and underrepresented, including students of color, LGBTQ+ students, students from varying family structures, immigrant families, and more. We must work to understand and address systemic racism. Our classrooms become a powerful place to make sense of what is going on in the world around us. These books will help my students and myself begin courageous conversations. These books will help ensure that children know that all are honored within our classroom. This library will keep expanding as I fill it with additional books honoring diversity.
