Daily access to these laptops will help all members of our grade develop the 21st-century communication skill of video editing, making learning come alive as we use technology to creatively engage in authentic communication with our community; they will also be used as a valuable resource for research to be conducted by our school's first national science contest team. To accomplish its mission of inspiring students to strive for excellence thanks to an intimate knowledge of our proud heritage, our school hosts monthly learning celebrations where students display project-based learning artifacts and performances to members of the broader community. Currently, only still shots of these celebrations can be seen on our school website. As we acquire the skill of video editing, we hope to document our learning in a lasting way that will allow others to appreciate our rich culture and tradition and that will further deepen our sense of pride and give wings to our dreams. Pacific Island poetry, water quality public service announcements, and stop-gap animation film shorts of heroes of our culture are just a few of many projects we would like to learn to use video editing to capture! The laptops requested will also aid Toshiba Exploravision team members to venture into a journey of research, innovation, and excellence, inspiring future students who, we hope, will follow their lead.
