My students have very unique needs that require them to seek different sensory input throughout their school day. Having flexible seating will ensure that my students sensory needs are met, allowing for them to remain on task for longer periods while completing work, and being able to focus more on their academic progress. For some of my students, sitting in the regular classroom chair produces the same uncomfortable feeling we get when a tag on our clothing is left itching us. Because of the needs of the students in my classroom, our academic tasks are broken up into different "centers, allowing for a transition break in between tasks. The seating items, chair cubes, wobble chairs and beanbag sets, I am trying to get for my students will allow each center to have a different seating option, so that students can remain focused on their academic goals, rather than how uncomfortable they are with our current seating options. These items will be used all day, everyday, and will really help provide a sense of comfort for years to come, as students continue to make achievements beyond expectations.
