My students use the whiteboards across the day for all the learning subjects in first grade. The whiteboards are being used to check for understanding in math and language arts. I don't need to go to each desk to see how the students solve a math word problem or computation. On a count of three, my students show me their whiteboard, and I can see their work at once. This allows me to right away go to the students that need me the most, while the other students move to the next activity. \r\nI enjoyed seeing my students faces light up with a big smile as I passed around their whiteboards. But the most exciting part is the level of engagement among my students us they work together using their whiteboards.\r\nFirst graders need to understand syllables in words as we read and write them. The next steps in the students' learning as they become stronger readers and writes is to manipulate syllables and the whiteboards come pretty handy for this extension activity.","fullyFundedDate":1723341493866,"projectUrl":"project/surfing-through-learning-with-interacti/8550612/","projectTitle":"Surfing Through Learning with Interactive White Boards","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rodriguez","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9274762_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1695454788089","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9274762"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_30585","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":356,"numTeachers":17,"percentFrplEligible":66,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":1,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":91,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"20.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":80.0,"schoolId":30585,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about William Orr Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"William Orr Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/little-lake-city-school-district/william-orr-elementary-school/30585"}
