As much as we try not to put emphasis on clothing, we all know how our comfort level can impact our ability to focus and produce throughout the school day. Requiring uniforms in schools helps to balance the disparity between haves and have-nots, but even then, inequality exists. Throughout the school year, a number of students come to school with uniforms that no longer fit well, some that are damaged with stains or tears, and others come without the proper uniform pants or shirt at all because they simply don't have any. Our school is a Title I school, with 78% of the students receiving free/reduced lunch. To a middle-school student, struggling with typical developmental and emotional changes, a stained shirt or pants that are too small can ruin their day. To date, we have collected used uniforms that families have donated and provided them to students who need replacements, but our supply is limited. As grateful as we are for our families' generosity, oftentimes the replacements are more than "gently used." With your help, we can provide fresh, clean and new uniform shirts and pants to those students when the need arises. Please help us help them feel like they are dressed for success!
