My students vary greatly in their foundational math skills. Meanwhile the internet is full of programs that allow students to relearn and strengthen those skills at their own pace and level. Unfortunately, our school lacks the technology to put those resources into the hands of our students. I envision a paperless classroom, where core content is organized through an online classroom and each student is afforded the opportunity to increase their math skills at their own pace through a variety of online platforms. This a very cost-effective solution. By enabling students to work with the requested Chromebooks with online services, it is like having 25 individual tutors in a classroom. In addition, for seniors, there is a potential to prepare for college level math, through the types of online platforms that they will experience in college. When we have not been able to work on foundational skills with students, we have seen poorer results in their high school math content areas as well as a drop in their foundational skills. I plan to measure students' continued growth in foundational skills and reward that growth as a portion of their content area grade.
