I am the librarian for a Title 1 public school in Moreno Valley, CA. In our school library, I have created a vibrant atmosphere to lure the students in and then provide a variety of activities to keep them interested. In a recent climate survey, it was revealed that 80% of our students have 5 or less books in their homes--many have none! Because of this, I want them to embrace their library so their lives will be full of books providing adventure and learning. This year, I started a makerspace in the school library. Because of budget constraints, the makerspace has no technology but embraces other aspects of STEAM.
