My students are addicted to their phones. It's that simple. The phones are the root cause of behavior problems, attention and focus, and in information acquisition. The requested Cell Phone Locker will give me a safe storage location to place their phones where they won't be stolen and remove the distraction from them at the start. By removing the phones from their persons their focus increases tenfold. Many negative behaviors are caused by the phones this does include missing instruction time which has to be repeated. Students will hide their phones, text, watch videos, it is simply daunting. I have implemented classroom strategies to address this, including parent involvement. By having the students lock their phones up as a normal expected procedure it is hoped that many negative consequences can be avoided.
