Part of our math workshop model includes "workplace time" for students to use technology and play games to extend and practice the math skills they have learned. I have noticed that the students are much more engaged and motivated when the workplaces involve technology. We are not a 1:1 classroom so when the students have access to technology, it is special and very fun for them. Right now, we have several Osmos that are available in the school media center to use in classrooms. However, with a school of 700+ students, these resources are not always available when needed. Unfortunately, my classroom budget is not at the level to meet the technology needs of my learners. This grant will help to close that gap just a little bit more. Having Osmos available to my class ANY time, will allow my students to extend and practice the math skills we are working on at just the right time. I know a high level of motivation and engagement will lead to higher math scores and abilities.
