I teach 8th grade English in the South Bronx. My students come from all over the world and bring an exciting diversity into my classroom. They are also strong readers who are hungry for new books. My school is located in a high-poverty area: over 90% of my students receive free or reduced price lunch. Despite that challenge, we are a high-achieving school that consistently outperforms our district on standardized assessments.
