This past school year has proven very difficult to speak to my students in a matter that is both productive but also sensitive. The world has changed a lot over the past few months and these changes have severely impacted the students in my classroom. I want to help raise smart, educated citizens who know more than just the common core. These magazines will help inform my students about the world they live in and the changes that are occurring around them. I always dread opening my Yahoo homepage because the topics that are listed are always important and interesting but never appropriate. These Scholastic Magazines will make it possible to speak to children about world issues in a meaningful way. This form of media literacy will be used in groups that read and discuss current events during breakfast in the morning. I want my students to leave my class and be encouraged to get a newspaper to stay informed when they grow up.
