Math can cause anxiety for many students. I want to make my classroom a positive environment where students feel comfortable. I want students to breathe a sigh of relief as they enter my classroom. Who wants to sit still all day in school? Most of us adults get up, stretch, and move around throughout the day. With this project, students will be able to stand while they learn! Bed risers will be used to convert a normal student desk into a standing desk. Students who would prefer to sit can use the bouncy chair bands to rest their feet or bounce their feet on the chair bands. Cell phones have become a huge distraction for some students. Some students are addicted and can get anxious without that device in their hands. I want to give my students something to do with their hands. I also have students who freeze on a quiz. Or students who have a fear of answering questions in class. Fidgets seem like a good solution. It gives students something to do that does not distract the learning environment. Maybe it will help ease their fears and make math a better experience.
