Upfront Magazine provides high school students with articles and activities that they care about and/or need to know about. Everything from vaping to government to school shootings are covered. By exposing my students to these issues, we can open up the dialogue about what to do to deal with them. Access to news, from a balanced perspective, is crucial to creating informed citizens in this era of attention-grabbing headlines and social media posts. I would like to receive funding to purchase a subscription to this resource so that I can teach as effectively as possible. The weekly magazine comes with lesson plans and resources that are engaging for the students. They love getting their magazine and becoming informed about the topics, so that they can participate in debates and discussions.
