Graphic novels are a valuable tool for teaching reading. With graphic novels, students can be taught to slow down their reading in order to closely analyze images and text. Through this project, students will be able increase reading comprehension, gain insight, and interpret the meaning of the text. The best part about graphic novels is that students love them! By using the graphic novel "Amulet" within the classroom, I hope to engage students in a new way of reading and analyzing text. The best way to have students engaged in reading is to choose material that captivates and interests them, which I think "Amulet" will do. I am excited to share my love for graphic novels with my students, and I can't wait to see their interpretation of this beautifully written and illustrated story. I anticipate great classroom discussions and responses. By incorporating this graphic novel into my classroom, I will be providing my students with a rich and fulfilling learning opportunity that will allow them to explore another genre of literature.
