All of the students would like to work together and build structures if there were enough materials to do so. The magna tiles will provide a fun way for my students to explore geometry, symmetry, area and perimeter concepts as they build. The block play simple machines will give students hands-on experience with cause and effect as they raise and lower objects on an elevator and move blocks on a conveyor belt. The design and build engineering centers will teach students to look closer at real life designs and make original structures that use the same important elements. These materials encourage open-ended building with minimal teacher involvement and allow students more choice in their projects they create. The students will also be able to draft designs; build the structure and problem solve what would be the best building materials to use. The cooperation and creation process is very important to allow everyone involved in the process to know they are valued for their contribution and their unique ideas.
