Our classroom could really use a set of tablets to enrich our learning! In my experience, the right websites can help to engage, enhance, and extend the learning of a classroom. We live in a changing world where our kids are fascinated with technology. Why not help us cultivate this fascination into projects and websites that will further their minds? While our school provides technology we don't have enough in our classroom to deepen understanding on a daily level. Currently, we have two student computers in a classroom of 28 students. We have a traveling cart of laptops that is shared with all of fourth grade- 28 X 4 classes= 112 kids. However, this cart is not available to us during any testing periods including all of December and the last three months of school. Even with a schedule to divvy out computers, all schedules go out the window when we have benchmark and state testing. Having our own class set of tablets would make scheduling, and planning much easier for me as a teacher. It would also help the technology be more accessible to the students. We could set up technology centers for students to practice math facts and reading comprehension skills online. We would have a class set of tablets on hand for research projects. We could teach kids how to be more self-sufficient and safe with their access online. Overall, a class set of tablets is the answer to our technology needs!
