The students I teach are in need of hands on devices that can be used on a daily basis. Hand writing is a task that is both difficult and stressful for the majority of my students; however, when tasks are put on a computer, their individual success with writing and projects has increased drastically. They are masters at technology! They know how to use the Google Classroom to further their learning and success. Currently there are on 30 Chrome Books in our school of 840 students. There are 2 learning labs of 30 computers each. Having introduced my students to the world of Google Classroom, I have found great success! In order for students to continue to use technology for academic gains, its is crucial they have access on a daily basis. The Chrome books could be used during lessons, during independent work time, and brought home to complete projects. Many of my students do not have access to a computer at home, the possession of Chrome books would encourage them to work more independently at home. Google Classroom also allows students to turn in their work without needing to print it. This also is beneficial as many of my students do not have access to printers at home. Google Classroom has so many applications. I feel it is an excellent tool to promote independence and academic success. Engaging students with technology will also prepare them for the future. My goal, is to have my students leaving 8th grade with the tools they need for high school and beyond. We must move with the technology being created. To do this, it is essential to have access to that technology.
