Having a classroom set of Chromebooks allow for different structures of learning in my classroom. But the mouse pads are difficult for the students to use quickly and often the mouse pads don't work frustrating my low self esteem students which leads to more self doubt. I would like to be able to provide 50 second grade students with mice, a vital tool, that due to their families resources they can not provide for themselves. Students will use the mice to create Google Presentations and other programs to demonstrate their learning as well as take county required GRASP assessments. Due to the mouse pads not working correctly, my students often have scores that don't reflect their true potential or they feel like they are "not smart" enough to use Google Presentations and etc due to the mouse pads not working correctly. Just simplify having a mouse for each student would allow for them to participate in activities on the Chromebooks that reflects their highest performing and even the most struggling students have an opportunity to feel successful.
