I am incorporating Science, Technology, Engineering, and Arts into my Math curriculum (STEAM). The first unit in Geometry covers transformations: Translations, Reflections, and Rotations. Whenever possible, I relate our geometry concepts to real-life scenarios. This was quite easy to do with transformations! Students use transformations in real-life every time they assemble a puzzle! The funding of this project will allow students to utilize the supplies necessary to create their own puzzles. We need card stock for the base of the puzzle, markers to create a design, and scissors to cut out the pieces. After the puzzles are complete, students will trade and then assemble each other's puzzles using transformations.
