My goal is to obtain the supplies to start a frisbee and disc golf club at my elementary school! It will be so beneficial to a variety of grades (i.e., 3rd-6th) who would be invited to participate. These two sports have been increasing in popularity throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Disc golf specifically has been growing because players stay apart, use their own discs, and have minimal interaction with one another.
These sports are perfect to get a new after-school club started where students will come after school for an hour to practice the essential skills for these sports. Personally, I had run a similar club in a school I used to teach at in Wyoming and we had over 40 kids coming each club night and practicing, laughing, having fun, and developing strong social-emotional skills as they learned the rules and strategies of these fun sports! I know that if I offered this same program here, the students - so in need of community and relationship building activities - would jump all over it! I really hope someone funds this to get us started with the supplies we need!
