I am requesting a class set of the following three books: A Young People's History of the United States, The Hate U Give, and Octavia's Brood. It is difficult to engage and inspire students that belong to marginalized communities using the outdated, irrelevant textbooks alone. I believe these books will inspire our students because the people in the pages reflect the communities they belong to. They will read the history and narratives of poor/working class people, people of color, women, immigrants, and so forth in these books. Please help to inspire our youth with these written works, these books can make a difference!
