I love using mentor texts in my classroom. By sharing a well-written picture book with students, even older students, you can teach grammar, reading comprehension, and writing structure in an engaging way. I want to expand our classroom library to include more wonderful texts such as these. My students deserve to have more books that will increase their comprehension in reading and writing. They should have many opportunities to develop their skills as readers and writers who are prepared for middle school and beyond. These books will be used for years and will impact many students.
