Students will be using a 3D printer in engineering class to not only replicate objects but to make their ideas/designs come to life. Throughout the school year, students will have the opportunity to solve a problem through CAD modeling or create a new design. With the 3D filament I am asking for, students will be able to turn their designs into reality and something they can hold. Students will be able to use their creativity to innovate new solutions to problems through use of the scanner and CAD programs. The 3D filament PLA (environmentally friendly) will make students ideas come alive (be printed) and help refine their CAD skills in this 21st Century style Technology based class. Students will learn to troubleshoot design flaws and gain a better understanding how to approach problems in order to solve them. By having this 3D filament it will allow students to critique their own designs by actually handling what they have design through the use of a 3D printer.
