Students need choice; they thrive off choices. Why not give them the choice of flexible seating in our traditional classrooms? When we are engaged in discussions about literature, I want my students to be engaged. I don't want them just to sit and tolerate the lesson, I want them to not be held down by classrooms typical decor. If they have been sitting all day, I want to give them the option to stand and learn. If they need a little comfort, I desire to give them an option of a Wobble cushion or a Hooki stool. Need a small fidget? Go get a bouncy band? Students need choice; they thrive off choices. Why not give them the choice of flexible seating in our traditional classrooms? These simple solutions will promote the ability for engagement during our lessons and activities in an environment they can tolerate. Help me create a classroom with choice!
