In my classroom, my preschoolers are constantly reading and using books to gain an understanding about the topics we are learning about. In my library, there is no place to organize books for easy access. My students would greatly benefit from a shelf in our library center. Having an organized library will allow my students to freely explore more books that interest them. My preschoolers will benefit if our books were in categorized bins that allow them to easily find books and use them to gain more knowledge about the world around us. My students love using books to explore other areas in our classroom as well as in our library. They use construction stories in the block area to learn to build roads and buildings. Currently, they are enjoying plant and insect stories in our science center -but if they want a new story about a topic, they have to ask for one. Having this shelf in my library will allow them to become independent learners, readers, and researchers.
