My students need wobble chairs, picture cards and fun, exciting speech and language games and activities. Many of my students have difficulty with sensory processing or have an ADD or ADHD diagnoses. Wobble chairs will help my students get the sensory input and output they desire while working and achieving in the speech and language support classroom. "On average, using academic games in the classroom is associated with a 20 percentile point gain in student achievement", (Haystead and Marzano, (2009). When used purposefully and thoughtfully, games can be a powerful and useful tool to address even the most difficult content in a lighthearted and engaging way. Games and activities that target vocabulary and receptive and expressive language skills are exactly what my students need to be stay engaged and motivated. They will want to play again and again and what better way to practice, reinforce, and promote carryover of good communication skills!
