I teach mild to moderate special education students at a terrific elementary school in Douglas County Colorado. While my students are beautiful and well taken care of, every day they are faced with the challenges of living with learning disabilities. This can be particularly difficult in such a high achieving school. Teachers have very high expectations. Those of us to who have learning disabilities or family members with learning disabilities (as I do) know that it is not a reflection of our intelligence or character, but it can really take its toll on a young person's self esteem. I am so lucky that I get to come to work everyday and build these young people up. I am touched every day as we witness amazing growth and work through our obstacles. Every bit that you contribute to my classroom is SO appreciated! These are the tools we use to change lives!
