Part of the AP environmental science curriculum is doing field work. My students do water quality testing at an urban creek and require certain materials to do so. In the past they have used such things like test strips or have had to bring water samples back to the classroom to use other probes to get the other measures. These Conductivity/pH/Salinity Pen Meters will allow my students to complete their water quality testing in much more efficient and accurate way and is more closely aligned with how real-life scientists would complete water quality testing. Rather than using test strips and having to bring water samples back to the classroom, students can complete the majority of tests right there in the field. Using better technology is key in advancing my students understanding of how actual environmental scientists work.
