My students are bilingual second graders, in a Title I, high poverty school. Most of them come from Central America, including El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. They are enrolled in a bilingual classroom, responsible for meeting the same high standards as other mainstream second grade students, all the meanwhile, struggling to simultaneously master two languages.
