My first grade classroom is tiled. I would love to be able to give students choices of where they like to work...whether it is at their seats or on the floor. I believe that students are able to do their best work when they are in a comfortable space. A carpet will give them a comfortable choice. They can choose to sit on it or lay on it to work with a partner. We can also use the class carpet for other things like sorting, graphing, and sitting as a whole group to listen to stories. A carpet would give us a place to gather as a class to talk, to read books and to interact with each other.
