I am fortunate enough to work with 14 of the most hardworking, thoughtful, and inquisitive first and second grade students! Each and every morning they greet me with bright smiles and a passion for learning. Something amazing about this group of students is that they are eager to learn and soak up knowledge, just as a sponge soaks up water. Their thirst for learning can never be quenched. We start our day by diving into reading our "just right" books. Over 45% of our school live in poverty, as they receive free or reduced meals. This means that many do not have what they need at home to foster and continue their learning and carry over all of the hard work they do here at school at home. That is why I try to have as many books at their individual reading levels available as possible.
