Although my students are in high school, many of them are below reading level and haven't read the Harry Potter series. We will be diving into the deep complexities of the book, while also looking at theme, tone, and character building. We will also analyze the popularity and affect of the books on mass culture. The character of Harry Potter resonates with students, particularly those with disabilities. It is a book that changes perceptions, outlooks, and the way you look at life. I want my students to read the magic in Harry Potter. I also want my students to enjoy reading for pleasure, which most of them don't.
