Building a love for reading is more than just putting a book in a child's hand and asking them to read it. As the Librarian at Turner, I believe it all starts with building a love for the Library. We teach children to put their time and efforts into things that matter. Things that will help them to become better students and more importantly, better people. In our Library, we promote learning in all ways. We want our Library to be a safe place, that students can come to learn how to read, imagine, and dream! This is why we have decided to have the Library open before school and at lunch/ recess times for our students to explore. If we have educational games and activities for students to build knowledge and help them to focus on learning, this will be a much easier task to accomplish. We hope to have students working together on Lego projects with new tables that are the right size for our students, or playing games that reinforce what they have been working on in class. Some of these topics will be, critical thinking skills, knowledge of U.S. States and Capitals, Science, History, and Reading Skills. We want to encourage our students to be investigators and find supportive literature for the things that they need more knowledge about which is why we are requesting some awesome games that are fact driven, and thought provoking! Thank you for supporting our dream of making the Library and fun and safe space for learning to take place!
