Who wants to read outdated books, even ones that are falling apart? Every day my class begins with several minutes devoted to silent reading time. I have a wide range of students, some are avid readers who will read anything that I offer them. Others are slightly more difficult to motivate. They base their reading selections off of my book talks, peer recommendations, and, as surprising as it may sound, the quality and condition of the book (this includes the cover).

About my class
