These materials will provide students to access to more diverse literature in the AP English Literature Classroom as well as give students more choice in their reading. Each semester, I give students choice in their reading by assigning Book Clubs. These texts will help me add to the collection of Book Club books that I already have available. Additionally, these texts will allow me to add a whole-class study of a poetry collection (Citizen Illegal), which we do not currently have. This poetry collection, written by Jose Olivarez, will provide some students with a much-needed mirror in their reading, but many more with a mirror into a perspective with which they are unfamiliar.
