The students in my school face the challenge of needing to make up years of education in English in the four short years we have them at our high school. Reading is key to building background knowledge, vocabulary as well as exposure to complex language structures. Unfortunately, as students learn English, it is difficult to find interesting texts at their reading levels. Audio books offer access to higher leveled texts that are of interest to students and give them a chance to interact with text that may be beyond their reading level. Giving them the opportunity to read these books will hopefully grab their interest and hook them as lifelong readers!

About my class
