These lights will be used to start our vertical salad garden to supply students with a fresh lunch option. The soil cube maker will allow students who harvest lettuce to plant the seed for the next cycle of crops. Students will learn about soil amending and hydroponic gardening as well as how to create a cycle of products for consumption. Students who help grow their own salad greens for lunch will care more about maximizing food nutrition and freshness while minimizing their waste. This will translate to their adult lives where nutrition and proper eating and budgeting are of everyday importance. Being able to grow ones own food is an invaluable skill that will serve the student their whole lives.
