Closing the achievement gap won't be easy, but it is possible. Some of my students are at the second grade reading level, while other students read at an eleventh grade level. Differentiating the level of instruction for such a wide range of student performance has proven to be challenging, and at times, frustrating. These kids simply do not have the resources they need to challenge themselves. My job is to get each student to perform at mastery level, and they need supplies to get there. Unfortunately, some of my students can't even get to their local library to choose an AR book to read.
