Students thrive on more information and want to be informed citizens as they grow. In class, we talk about current events, how they relate to history, where we can find the bias, and why it is important to know what a valuable source can be. My students received the "tester" copy of Junior Scholastic and wanted more! I have checked out my one copy to 47 of 65 students already, just because they wanted to read the stories within. This project gives my students the opportunity to be globally aware of what is going on in the world at this moment in language that they understand. It is necessary for them to use this tool each month to gather research, create passion projects, and emphasize that everyone matters.
