These books will go to our in-class library so that students can use them for independent reading, partnered reading, and practicing reading skills that build stamina and comprehension. These books will be independent reading books students will read and respond to various reading prompts to make sense and reflect on what they've read. The books will be used for partnered reading in order to generate rich, academic discussions among students, share reading strategies. These books will also be used to build students' reading skills by having them practice close-reading strategies. Providing students with books that students can open and see their selves and their experiences represented matters. Diverse reading options hook apprehensive readers in to the literary world, while keeping those who are already love to read engaged.
