My classroom is filled with amazing third graders that love reading !! They are often coming to school with a lot of hardships and obstacles to overcome but everyday I make it my mission to make sure that my "kids" know they are loved and are important. I call them my kids because they truly are a part of my heart . Many of my kids often do not have their own books at home and owning a book and having that feeling of loving a book and disappearing into a book is so meaningful. I know the true importance of that because I am my kids .... I grew up in the same neighborhood and had to overcome many of the same hardships and struggles and having a book to get lost in helped me to realize the possibilities in my life. I want my students to have the same feeling and know their possibilities.
