Our high school is a selective enrollment math and science academy located in a rough neighborhood, but my students travel from all over the South Side to come here. The student body is 70% African American and 26% Hispanic, over 69% of whom are eligible for free or reduced lunch. They are driven and motivated; they like to try new things and to challenge themselves in every way possible. They inspire me every day.
