My students need access to books to read for enjoyment. Reading Unwind will help them find the genre they are most interested in. I conduct a Read Aloud daily with my students. I model fluency as well as good reading. When students read on their own, they are able to take what I have modeled and use it in their own reading. With students having access to their own copy to read in class, I am able to think aloud as I read. I am able to stop and talk about what I am reading, whether I have questions, a prediction I may have, as well as my reaction to the reading. Students will be able to see the steps that good readers take to ensure they understand and comprehend grade level text. Reading different genres introduces new elements and allows reading to come alive for them again.
