My drama club students are stellar performers and fun kids to work with. We typically put on two plays each school year, that are a highlight for cast and audience alike. These shows come together using next to no resources for props and costuming, and with borrowed sound equipment. It's always important for actors to speak loudly and clearly during a performance, but these kids have truly learned the art of projection.
With sound equipment that is built to pick up voices from a distance, my students can focus on articulating their speech and performing instead of shouting lines to reach the audience. Our performers are currently required to stand at the very front of the stage, so their voices can be picked up by our rented sound system that is not made for stage productions. We deal with sound feedback a lot, which is no fun, after we put in so much hard work. With floor microphones, performers will be able to better utilize our stage and move freely during performances.
