My classroom is designed to help 2nd grade students acquire a higher level of English, especially academic English. My students all speak another language at home which makes accessing the content in English, at times, very challenging. The majority of my students are second generation immigrants whose families are from Mexico, Ecuador, Togo and Somalia. In ELL class we work on learning new vocabulary, building background knowledge and accessing higher order thinking skills to support the IB units of inquiry.
