Inner city, low income athletes sometimes lack the funds to purchase their own practice gear like their suburban counterparts; thus, they sometimes don't look as uniformed. The self-esteem that comes from being equipped with quality gear heightens the athletic experience. A child's participation in athletics should not be predicated on their family's ability to finance that activity. Because our school is one hundred percent "free and reduced" lunch, it speaks to the availability of funds in the home of our basic student body. Never before used gear will increase the self worth of the younger athletes enabling them to participate without embarrassment.

About my class
