Books are amazing tools to teach young students about the world around them! Especially in the time of COVID, while children's social interactions are impacted by mask-wearing, social distancing, and limits to social gatherings, books offer students meaningful opportunities to engage with topics such as emotions, problems, friendship, kindness, and community. Exposure to stories will help my kindergarten and first grade students develop critical life skills, including: identifying and managing emotions, navigating conflict and disappointment, and developing healthy and rewarding relationships. These read-aloud books will my students develop their social emotional awareness and skills so that they can learn to regulate themselves, in order to have more happy, productive, and fulfilling experiences both at school and in their communities.
